thinking of the seminary?

The Diocese of Grand Island provides a process of discernment for men who are drawn to the priesthood. We acknowledge that each individual has a unique and personal story and that each person’s discernment is different.

The Diocese of Grand Island looks for seminary candidates who demonstrate four qualities:

Prayer, Hard work, Generosity and sacrifice.

Watch the video below to see how these qualities are demonstrated day to day in the seminary.

A candidate for priestly formation in the Diocese of Grand Island must have graduated from high school and have the ability to do college-level work, be in college, or be a college graduate. He should be in good health – physically, mentally and spiritually. He must be a baptized, confirmed, and practicing Catholic. He must be free to enter this state of life, that is, not be married nor have any dependents. He must want to grow in holiness and sincerely desire to serve God and His people.
