The Vocations Office has a vision to see the Diocese of Grand Island become a place where the model and encouragement of vocations is a regular occurrence through our religious and lay faithful. We envision our young people being given every opportunity to ask where God may be calling them because of an encounter with Jesus Christ and through faithful Catholics. We envision every Catholic home as a foundation for vocational discernment, supported by Catholic schools and religious education programs.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Diocese of Grand Island Office for Vocations exists to encourage and inspire young people to consider the priesthood and religious life. We do this by igniting a culture of vocations in the clergy, religious, and lay faithful through the following pillars.

  • PRAYER

  • EDUCATION

  • DISCERNMENT

  • INVITATION

strategic plan (2025-2030)

a culture of prayer

Supporting parishes and schools in their effort to create a space and environment for an encounter with God and His calling. Encouraging every member of the body of Christ to seek the Lord through prayer and asking Him to inspire young people to embrace their true vocation.

“Behind and before every vocation to the priesthood or to the consecrated life, there is always the strong and intense prayer of someone: a grandmother, a grandfather, a mother, a father, a community. Vocations are born in prayer and from prayer; and only through prayer can they persevere and bear fruit”.                                                                                                        - Pope Francis

project 2030

PROJECT 2030 is a goal of the Vocation Office to increase the number of seminarians in the Diocese. The aim is to have 20 men in formation by 2030. Through the strategic plan, we want to support our pastors, lay faithful, and educators in identifying, accompanying, and recommending young men to the seminary from 2025 to 2030.
